Job Summary:

The Dependency and Recovery Service is committed to bridging the gap between probation and substance misuse services, providing support to adult males under probation supervision. Our mission is to improve client engagement in treatment services through practical assistance and motivational interventions.

 

Location: South West London

Work hours: 35 hours per week

Salary: £37,433.00 - £45,751.00

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Integrate a joint strategic and operational approach to service and partnership management within our D&R Service.
  • Oversee the service delivery in your designated London Boroughs, ensuring compliance with HMPPS contracts and performance targets.
  • Line manage two Team Leaders and lead the Lived Experience Peer Mentor strategy and London prison through-the-gate pathway.
  • Develop and maintain strategic and operational partnerships to enhance referral pathways and improve outcomes for service users.
  • Provide visible leadership, traveling across your cluster of services to ensure smooth project delivery and high standards.
  • Liaise with Senior Prison and Probation Service Personnel, commissioners, and other agencies.
  • Develop strategic links with community-based services from all sectors.
  • Engage with the development of the D&R model and future bids.
  • Develop a stakeholder strategy plan for communication and engagement.
  • Meet all contractual targets, volumes, outcomes, and obligations as described in the Dynamic Framework contract.
  • Ensure Action Plans are delivered timely and to a high standard.
  • Ensure mixed modality services are provided, including in-person, 1:1, group work, and virtual services.
  • Lead partnership working and attend relevant key meetings.
  • Ensure services are delivered with effective local operating processes.
  • Set objectives for Team Leaders and overall team to meet strategic objectives and contractual targets.
  • Monitor project performance against service level agreements.
  • Participate in staff recruitment and management, ensuring adherence to equal opportunities.
  • Manage poor conduct and under-performance appropriately.
  • Oversee effective management of your regions.
  • Ensure effective financial management and budget compliance.
  • Attend Governance and Quality Assurance meetings, reviewing performance and risks.
  • Hold regular team meetings and disseminate relevant information to staff.
  • Line manage, guide, and develop Team Leaders/lead roles, ensuring they are supported and accountable.
  • Ensure services are regularly audited and continuous improvement is maintained.
  • Alert your line manager to any significant risks or problems.
  • Ensure resources are allocated to meet contractual targets.
  • Prepare and deliver detailed reports on service effectiveness and performance against KPIs.
  • Manage employee files and information, including training, supervision, and performance management.

 

Person Specification:

  • Thorough understanding and relevant experience in providing substance misuse services in prison or community settings.
  • Knowledge of Community Rehabilitation Company (CRC), National Probation Service (NPS), and Criminal Justice services.
  • Experience in developing and implementing service improvements.
  • Demonstrable success in managing people and performance with evidence-based outcomes.
  • Ability to effectively lead and motivate teams.
  • Experience in supervising and supporting staff.
  • Experience in contract management, recruitment, and data management.
  • Understanding of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Excellent organisational, time management, and planning skills.

 

Desirable:

 

  • Experience of working within a rehabilitative setting, either custodial or community environments.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and best practice standards.
  • Knowledge of human resource and finance functions within a contract setting.
  • Knowledge of electronic case management databases.

 

Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualification in business, leadership, or management (or working towards).
  • Level 5 management qualification (or working towards).
  • Coaching, Supervision, or Counselling qualification.

 

A current DBS is required for this role, which we can process for you and HMPPS Enhanced Level 1 vetting.
